FAQs

I’ve never had a professional portrait taken before. How does it work?

It’s easy! Just send a message to me on my “Contact” page describing what kind of portrait you think you might like, and then we’ll discuss the details (the location, mood, wardrobe, etc.) in emails and on the phone. Then, once you’ve paid the retainer portion of your session fee, we will set a date for your portrait session and that date will be reserved exclusively for you.

About two weeks after your session I will personally deliver your printed portraits to you in your home. You will select your favorites to keep (either three or five, depending on which type of session you booked), and that’s it! There is never any pressure to buy anything.

I’m pretty camera-shy! Can you still do my portrait?

Absolutely! If you are camera-shy or reserved, my style of portraiture will be perfect for you. It’s casual, laid back, and there’s no pressure on you to smile. Rather than a fast-paced, high-energy session with big smiles, these portraits are all about showing your character, your inner-self. So, serene, thoughtful expressions with no smiles, or just a hint of a smile, are best for this style of portrait.

Can I get the digital files?

Each fine art print you purchase includes the artistically-retouched digital file of the image, in both high and low resolution. This allows you to make as many prints of your portrait as you would like, and use your images on social media. But the original digital files themselves are not available for purchase.

What if I need to reschedule?

No problem. I know things come up, so just let me know and we’ll reschedule.

Which forms of payment do you accept?

You may pay with cash or check, or with a credit or debit card through Paypal. You may also pay directly from your bank account through Paypal.

Do you use AI?

It’s not my preference, but I will if you want it and if it helps to bring your vision of your portrait to life. AI is just another artistic tool in a portrait photographer’s tool box. The truth is, as soon as you’ve removed even a single blemish from someone’s skin, or used a flash, you’ve already altered the reality of the image. So it’s more a question of where do you draw the line, and that line is different for each person. But with my roots as a photojournalist, I would love nothing more than to photograph you by soft, natural light and not change a thing.

Do you keep all of the digital files from my session?

I do not. I may or may not keep one or two from your session, and the rest are deleted, so you alone are responsible for the safe-keeping of any digital files that you receive.
